The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in bringing The Memoir Agency’s vision to life by participating in pre-production, overseeing on-site build and logistics as the Foreman, and managing the crew during the run of show. This role ensures seamless load-in, execution, and load-out while maintaining high safety, efficiency, and organization standards. They lead the technical and build teams, manage scheduling and training, oversee maintenance, and ensure all operations align with agency expectations. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in production logistics and team leadership, capable of driving excellence in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Core Work Responsibilities:
Participating in Pre-Production Operations
- Assist in planning and coordinating pre-production processes, ensuring all necessary resources, materials, and schedules are in place.
- Work with Director of Assets and Logistics to ensure that all packing lists reflect the actual needs of their show(s).
- Collaborate with the Director of Assets and Logistics to onboard other leads, ensuring they are equipped with the appropriate information to lead relevant projects.
- Maintain accurate records of pre-production inventory, materials, and documentation.
Managing On-Site Install & Dismantle of the Event as the Foreman
- Acts as the site foreman for install and dismantle of all show elements, making sure that the show is executed in a way that adheres to Memoir Standards
- Leads a diverse on-site crew, consisting of multiple teams and disciplines.
- Takes full responsibility for the successful execution of load-in and load-out phases.
- Monitors team performance, work quality, and overall adherence to project requirements.
- Oversees the setup of all Back-of-House (BOH) spaces used for Load-in, Run of Show, & Load-out, including tent builds and shipping container placements, asset storage, etc.
- Gains detailed knowledge of all site activations before load-in, providing guidance to teams to meet project goals.
- Conducts pre-shift and post-shift meetings to align teams with daily objectives and acknowledge achievements.
- Ensures all equipment, tools, and materials are properly handled, maintained, and stored.
- Monitors that work areas remain clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Identifies and addresses issues reported by build leads.
- Implements immediate solutions to minimize delays and ensure work continues efficiently.
- Works closely with the Producer and Director of Assets & Logistics during load-in and load-out to review resource allocation and provide progress updates through daily and weekly reports.
- Collaborates with the Producer of Owned Events to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Other duties as assigned.
On-Site Management of Event Operations Staff During the Event
- Assists the Director of Assets and Logistics in creating show-specific training protocols and leads training for on-site staff.
- Performs all scheduling functions for the technical/BOH team, including initial scheduling.
- Manages operations and technical team during run of show.
- Leads production and logistics meetings with internal teams on site on a nightly basis.
- Leads a nightly safety walk to ensure the show meets written safety standards, clearing the venue to open each night.
- Assists with emergency management.
- Spearheads the implementation and follow-through of maintenance logs.
- Performs on-site maintenance and repairs during show hours on show props and technical elements to ensure smooth operation.
- Conducts maintenance outside of show hours or schedules a BOH team member to address maintenance tasks.
- Ensures the build compound stays organized throughout the run of the show.
Dates: This is a temporary full-time position. Dates listed below are working dates. 5 days a week required including weekends & holidays. The Operations Manager will work approximately 40 hours per week during install, run of show, and strike periods.
